The original idea for this ISSMA symposium arose from the FIRST Project (launched in 2010 by the Council for Science and Technology Policy headed by the Prime Minister of Japan) on the “Research and Development of Innovative Nanobiodevices Based on Single-Molecule Analysis” led by Prof. Dr. KAWAI, Tomoji (Osaka University) with the objective of reviewing recent trends and identifying potential new directions in the single molecular analysis of DNA and related molecules.
